What this site is

Inked Onsen JPN helps visitors to Japan find hot springs, bathhouses and saunas that accept guests with tattoos. We also explain how Japanese bathing works, so that a first visit feels easy rather than stressful.

How we check each bath

• We read each bath's own website, rules and FAQ. When a bath doesn't publish its policy, we use the local government, tourism board or bathhouse association, or we call the bath.
• Only baths whose policy we have confirmed from one of those sources appear on the map. Reports from other websites are used as leads, never as the final answer.
• Every listing shows the date we last checked it and links to our source. We re-check listings regularly and remove baths that have closed.
• We describe each policy in our own words. We don't copy text or photos from the baths' websites.
